My introduction to Reiki came through a friend of mine who is practicing herbalist.  He invited me to come and have a session of Reiki.

I was required to lie fully clothed on a treatment bed only removing my shoes.  I was then covered over and told to make myself as comfortable as possible.  He then proceeded to move from my head to my toes placing his hands on different positions on my body.

It lasted 45-50 minutes.  When it was over I felt relaxed and at peace with myself, it was so different from anything I had experienced before.  I came back and had another two treatments.  

My friend suggested that I should go and learn this for myself, so I did, now Reiki is part of my daily routine, before I get out of bed I do 15 minutes Reiki and before I go to bed I do the same.  On a good day if I have time and find some spare moments can sit and do my Reiki for 30-60 minutes which gives me an extra boost to my day.

          Reiki is one of the most ancient healing methods know to mankind.  It originated in Tibet, and was rediscovered by a Japanese monk Dr Mikao Usui.

          Reiki is a gentle form of natural healing which allows you to absorb more life force energy, it is a healing system that is safe, natural holistic way of treating any acute and chronic conditions and bringing about spiritual, mental and emotional well being.  These conditions include stress, sinusitis, menstrual problems, cystitis, migraine, asthma, eczema, ME/CFS, arthritis, menopausal problems, back pain, anxiety, tension, depression, insomnia, sciatica and many more.

          Reiki is suitable for everyone, from the very young to the elderly and people recovering from surgery.  No garments need to be removed for Reiki therapy.  You can receive Reiki either hands on or distant healing.    
             
               
          How does it work?    
          Reiki is a specific energy that helps our own healing systems to work to their full potential.  We are alive because life energy is flowing through us.  Energy flows within the body through pathways called Chakras, Meridians and Nadis.    
             
          The free and balanced flow of energy is the cause of good health.  When the flow of energy is disrupted it interferes with the healthy functioning of one or more of the organs and tissues of the body.  Therefore it is the disruption in the flow of energy that is the main cause of illness.

Reiki  Works in harmony with all other kinds of treatment.
